Constellations of Nature and History Works by Alexander Kluge | Kunst Kiosk #4
Goethe-Institut Kolkata presents Constellations of Nature and History, the fourth exhibition at Kunst Kiosk, featuring works by the renowned German filmmaker, writer, philosopher and media artist Alexander Kluge.
For over six decades, Kluge has developed a unique artistic practice that moves between literature, cinema, philosophy, television and archival research. His works challenge linear narratives and instead create “constellations” of stories, images, historical documents and reflections that generate meaning through their relationships with one another.
The exhibition brings together eight films from Kluge’s recent publications Aus dem Bauhaus der Natur (From the Bauhaus of Nature, 2023) and Sand und Zeit (Sand and Time, 2024). While the first explores nature as a vast archive of evolutionary knowledge accumulated over millions of years, the latter investigates the layers of historical memory, war, migration and political change that continue to shape the present.
Presented by the Alexander Kluge Foundation and Goethe-Institut Kolkata.
