For Indigenous People's Day we will be working in removing invasive species- predominately Honeysuckle and Buckthorn- and pruning/ thinning the trees to create a healthier forest and Seasonal Arboreal Wetlands. We will also be installing bluebird boxes and squirrel houses. There will be fires and chainsaws. This is a great opportunity for scouts to work on badges and folks to get community service time.
Bring your lunch and s'more ingredients if you want. What's a fire without a marshmallow?
Dress for the weather and to get dirty. Bring gloves if you have them- we do have gloves.
Anyone 8 and up who is game for hard work is welcome.
You do not need to stay for the full time- an hour or 2 or 4 is great.
We also need a "home body" to stay at the front of the property and sign people in and direct them to where we are working in the woods.
