About this Event
Conservation Crafting: One Year In – Juneteenth Edition
Hosted by Naturalist Tasha & GBN Kimi Takikawa
Mason Mill Recreation Center (Upper Level)
Saturday, June 6 | 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Come craft with us.
What began with a simple yes between two GBN grads—an invitation shared, a class taken, a moment of curiosity—has grown into something steady, meaningful, and lasting. One year later, we’re still here. Still creating. Still gathering in community.
This special Juneteenth edition honors that journey—freedom to create, to reimagine, and to give new life to what already exists.
Together, we’ll continue working with repurposed Southwest Airlines leather, shaping, painting, and designing earrings and bracelets that reflect your voice, your story, and the beauty of creative reuse. Whether bold or subtle, each piece carries intention.
You’ll create three pieces to carry beyond the moment—one to keep, one to gift, and one to share forward.
This is more than a workshop. It’s a table. A rhythm. A space where conversation flows, hands stay busy, and creativity becomes a shared language.
Bring your favorite sweet or savory snack to share—something that feels like celebration. As we craft, we’ll nibble, laugh, and settle into the kind of ease that reminds us why we started.
One year in—and it all still begins the same way.

What We’ll Do
Settle in at a shared table where leather, paint, tools, and imagination wait—paired with sip & savor spritzes and sweet treats to enjoy along the way. This is a space designed for you to create freely, at your own pace, surrounded by other curious and creative minds. Materials will be available, gentle guidance offered when needed, and plenty of room for your ideas to unfold naturally. Conversation will flow, inspiration will pass from seat to seat, and between sips and bites, your table will begin to fill with color, character, and pieces that carry your own creative story.
