Conservation Corps: Invasive Plant Training Series

FREE Training Sessions: Tuesdays, Sept.16 & 30, Oct. 7 & 14, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Interested in making a real difference in local ecosystems? Join our four-week Conservation Corps Training Program this September and become part of the solution to invasive plant spread in Connecticut. Designed for new volunteers, land stewards, and anyone eager to bring this knowledge to their communities or backyard, this hands-on series will give you the tools to confidently identify and treat major invasive plant species.

Each session will focus on a different group of invasives commonly found in our region, like Japanese Barberry, Winged Euonymus, Japanese Knotweed, and Oriental bittersweet, and cover safe, effective treatment techniques using mechanical control methods.

• Learn proper identification techniques
• Understand plant life cycles and treatment timing
• Practice hands-on control methods in the field
• Build skills to lead and educate others

For adults and teens ages 16+ accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required for this 4-week series. Wear insect repellent, sun protection, long pants and sleeves, a hat, and work gloves. Bring water.
