Conservation Advocacy

Workshop Series 9:30-11:00 AM on three Saturdays: October 25, November 15, and December 6, 2025

Would you like to join us to gain skills to advocate for your favorite plants, animals, and ecosystems, or improve your skills if you’re already an advocate?

Boulder County Nature Association and Boulder County Audubon Society are sponsoring an experiential workshop series to help participants gain knowledge about effective ways to advocate for our local natural resources. Participants will explore ecological, moral, and legal aspects of conservation advocacy and learn about existing tools and information sources, including how to most effectively work with local, state, and federal agencies to protect sensitive ecosystems and their inhabitants. Equally important, participants can expect to: 1) improve their ability to persuade others, and 2) gain confidence in presenting comments in a public setting. The workshop will occur over three sessions so that participants can practice what they have learned in between sessions, in collaboration with instructors and other participants, and bring back experiences to share in future sessions.

The workshop series is free to registered participants and will be facilitated by Gerry Kelly, Steve Jones, Karen Hollweg, Cathern Smith, Linda Andes-Georges, and Bev Baker. We may bring in additional experts for the second or third session.

All three sessions will be held at The Avalon, 6185 Arapahoe Rd, Boulder. Turn north onto 62nd St from Arapahoe then left into the ample parking lot under the solar panels. Parking is free. Enter through the main entrance on the south side of the building and someone will be there to direct you to the meeting room.

Coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be provided. Please bring your refillable water bottle and your favorite hot beverage container.
