The Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada in Cambridge, the history and their importance to the community.
Hon. Col. Klugman explores the proud heritage and continued service of the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada, out of the Galt Armouries. She’ll highlight the regiment’s solemn Remembrance Day ceremonies that honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served; Robbie Burns Day, which celebrates our Scottish traditions; and the Buron Dinner, which honours the Regiment’s pivotal role in the 1944 liberation of Buron, France. She’ll speak to the important work of the Regimental Trust, which preserves our history, supports serving members and veterans, and fosters public understanding of military service. She’ll explain the vital role of the Honorary Colonel, who serves as a bridge between the military and civilian communities, offering mentorship, advocacy, and continuity of Regimental values. She will share a selection of books the Regiment has published that provide powerful insight into its legacy, missions, and the enduring spirit of the Fusiliers.
Use the Ticket link for free registration (membership card not required). Registration is required to confirm attendance.
This event is funded in part by Veterans Affairs Canada.
About Cambridge Third Age Learning
Cambridge Third Age Learning (CTAL) is a movement that encourages learning and discovery experiences for those in the 'third age'. As part of our Connections 50+ suite of programming, CTAL provides free monthly lectures in our Queen's Square location. With lecturers and topics carefully selected by our CTAL Committee, a volunteer-led group of contemporaries, the series is designed to inspire new thinking and engage inquisitive minds.
