Welcome to a workshop of movement, music and connection. Ballroom dance is a wonderful way to move the body and explore the art of connecting and partnering. It not only helps us develop the beautiful skill of dancing, but it also helps us understand the counterpart roles within a couple relationship and the dynamic game of polarity.
~~~ In this workshop we will learn:
- the basic steps of the foxtrot
- balance, structure and timing
- techniques for leading and following
- harmony within the balance of opposites
~~~ Who can join this workshop?
- anyone with 2 feet
- no prior experience necessary
- open mind helpful
- partner not required. If coming as a couple you may dance together throughout the workshop, no need to change partners
Please wear clothing that is easy to move in and indoor shoes that are comfortable

*** Please note that I must ensure that we don't have a very uneven number of leaders and followers in the group. This will ensure that the flow of exercises, most of which are done in couples, will run smoothly and everyone will get to experience them. I reserve the right to cancel your reservation if there is an imbalance of men/women. In this case you will receive a full refund and have priority in reserving your space for a future workshop. However, usually this isn't an issue.

Also, please arrive 5-15 minutes early so that you can find the room, sign in and settle into the space. That way we can begin at 3:00.

~~~ About your instructor:
Lela is a professional ballroom dancer from the United States and was a national finalist. She had the opportunity to study under world-class teachers while teaching and competing in the United States, Europe and Asia.
Lela has taught dance for more than 20 years and loves to work with students of all ages and levels, from social dancers to professional competitors. She has a Bachelor of Science in communication and finds that ballroom dance is a wonderful medium to learn how to partner, relate and connect with another person as well as oneself.
