Connecting with the Community

The Sandlapper chapter will deliver meals to help the Greer Community Ministries (GCM), a nonprofit organization, that sponsors the coffee in the BMW Cars and Kaffee at the Plant. GCM does not have any Federal or State funding. It is all locally funded. Meals on Wheels users are in the program because they are unable to prepare a healthy, nutritional meal for themselves, which often occurs due to a physical or mental impairment and/or issues related to age or because of a medical condition. It is not based on economics.

What to expect – you will pick up an insulated bag containing small, covered plastic trays with the meals. This can fit behind your seat on the floor. The meals are prepared and picked up at GCM headquarters near downtown Greer, from 10-11 a.m. Some meals are special diets and those are noted on the route sheet. All stops are in Greer. There are 18 routes and delivering all the meals should take about 90 minutes. You will also receive a paper route sheet in delivery stop sequence, with each stop's address and phone number. For every location on your route, you can use your GPS or the sheet, which contains detailed instructions on how to get to each stop. When you’re done with your route, please return the bags to the GCM location so they can reuse them.
