Congreso de Agricultores

Viva Farms invita a la comunidad de agricultores latinos al Congreso de Agricultores, una jornada de aprendizaje y establecimiento de contactos en el Valle de Skagit. Las sesiones de la mañana se enfocarán en temas de gestión empresarial,y tendrán lugar en el Centro de Investigación y Extensión WSU Northwest. Después, habrá un almuerzo informal para establecer contactos, y varios vendedores y proveedores de servicios agrícolas estarán disponibles para compartir información sobre sus programas. ¡Tacos Tecalitlan ofrecerá la comida!

Después del almuerzo, nos trasladaremos a Viva Farms para estudiar la gestión de plagas, las prácticas orgánicas, recorrer granjas existentes y revisar el uso y las mejores prácticas de implementos agrícolas comunes. Nos acompañarán líderes del Centro Nacional de Tecnología Apropiada, AgWest Farm Credit, proveedores y compradores del sector agrícola local, entre otros. Este evento se llevará a cabo en español con interpretación al inglés a petición y todos son bienvenidos. ¡Esperamos verlos allí!

Como ya sabrán, el Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE/La migra) hace redadas en nuestro país y no sabemos cuándo ni dónde se llevarán a cabo. Si usted está en riesgo, es posible que no sea seguro asistir a este tipo de reunión, no lo sabemos todavía. Por favor, cuando decida si va a asistir o no, tome decisiones seguras para usted mismo.

Nos comprometemos a seguir trabajando para promover la misión de nuestra organización, y nuestros eventos están abiertos a toda la comunidad; no preguntamos acerca del estatus migratorio. En el evento estarán disponibles materiales para protegerse y para saber qué hacer en caso de interacción con el ICE.

Together with the community, Viva Farms invites Latino farmers to Congreso de Agricultores, a day-long learning and networking opportunity in Skagit Valley. Morning sessions will focus on business management topics, including access to agricultural funding programs, at the WSU Northwest Research & Extension Center. Then, there will be a networking lunch during which various agricultural vendors and service providers will be available to share information about their programs. Food provided by Tacos Tecalitlan.

After lunch together, we will head to Viva Farms to study pest management, organic practices, tour existing farms and review the use and best practices for common farming implements. Leaders from the National Center for Appropriate Technology, AgWest Farm Credit, local farm business suppliers and buyers, and others will join us. This day-long event will be in Spanish; English interpretation will be available and all are welcome. Hope to see you there!

As you are likely aware, ICE raids are happening in our country, and we don’t know when or where these will be taking place. If you are at risk, it may not be safe to attend this type of gathering–we just don’t know yet. Please make safe decisions for yourself when deciding whether or not to attend.

We are committed to continuing our work to further our organization’s mission, and our events are open to our entire community–we do not ask about immigration status. Resources to keep each other safe and what to do during an interaction with ICE will be available at the event.
