Grampian Concert Orchestra brings a sweeping evening of drama, lyricism, and colour to the magnificent St Machar Cathedral on 7 March 2026 at 7:30pm. The programme opens with the bold energy of Louise Farrenc’s Overture No. 1. Pianist Ancuta Nite* then takes centre stage for Rachmaninov’s beloved Piano Concerto No. 2. The second half opens with the shimmering charm of Sibelius’s Valse Lyrique and the evening concludes with the vivid storytelling and orchestral sparkle of Rimsky Korsakov’s Symphoniette. A rich, atmospheric concert in one of Aberdeen’s most iconic spaces.* The soloist is donating her professional fee and the orchestra is donating all ticket money (after costs) to the “Ukrainian Children’s appeal”. Anyone who would like to make an additional donation to this cause, please use the QR codes placed around the Church.
