"William Mendelbaum is an international pianist. He has performed frequently in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Sydney, and Tokyo.... A virtuoso, composer, improviser, and arranger, he has given over 700 concerts on five continents. Based in Réunion, he trained with Thüryn Mitchell. He has also attended courses and masterclasses with Shai Maestro, Yaron Herman, Yonathan Avishai, and Jacob Collier.
He has released an album in tribute to the Louvre Museum, as well as an album in tribute to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in collaboration with both museums. He has had the opportunity to perform on boats and recorded the album "Piano On The Sea" on a boat in Amsterdam in 2023.
William Mendelbaum has released several albums, the result of continuous research, originality, and creativity. A film composer, he has received numerous awards for his soundtrack compositions. Mendelbaum has performed live with orchestras and composed the album "Strings Vibrate" with an orchestra, one of whose tracks was awarded a prize.
Winner of 50 international competitions and a multi-award winner, he is a finalist in the prestigious National Jazz Competition at La Défense, performing at the Jazz à la Défense Festival. He is also a finalist for the Sunside Trophy (Paris) and has been selected for one of the world's largest jazz competitions, the "Made in New York Jazz Competitions 2023," judged by Mike Stern, Lenny White, and Randy Brecker.
He has had the opportunity to play with renowned international musicians (Sylvin Marc, Swaeli Mbappé, Benjamin Petit, Jean-Philippe Fanfan, Thierry Fanfan, Davy Honet, Roni Kaspi (Avishai Cohen), Amaro Freitas, Christophe Cravero, Russell Hall (bassist who has played with Wayne Shorter, Sun Ra, etc.), Julien Faulkner (drummer who has played with Robert Glasper, Ornette Coleman, Wynton Marsalis, etc.)....
A highly creative artist, he creates musical portraits on commission, and even performs live in concert for people who inspire him. He also collaborates with painting, poetry, circus, theater, film concerts, dance, and gourmet cuisine (composing for dishes by Michelin-starred chefs and pastry chefs).
William Mendelbaum gave a TEDx talk on the power of music in 2023 in Paris. He has also written a book entitled "The Power of Music" and several collections of poems. Sensitive to the importance of knowledge transfer, he gives masterclasses, courses, and lectures.
