Lowell Arts at Sound Check is a new music series brought to you by Lowell Arts. The series will feature a mix of local favorites and award-winning artists, presented at Sound Check, a venue in downtown Lowell designed to provide an intimate listening experience for music enthusiasts. Sound Check features an inviting aesthetic with seating for up to 100, sound deadening stage curtains to enhance sound clarity, concessions, accessible entry, and plenty of free parking.
Annie Bacon
Annie Bacon is a writer and songwriter living in Ann Arbor, Michigan (via Maine and San Francisco). With her OSHEN she merges a literary writing style and folk-rock Americana sound to create rich and emotionally complex music. Bacon emerges from a loss-filled five years with 2024's Storm, praised as "a landmark release" (Glide), "mature and sophisticated songwriting" (AmericanaUK), and "brilliant nostalgic elegance" (The Wild Is Calling). She's also a part of the Badass Women Band, and one-third of the ambient-Americana band Come Softly.

Mar in Color
Mar in Color is a singer/songwriter based in Grand Rapids, MI. Her piano-driven indie pop/rock songs oscillate between raw emotion and playful wit, often at the same time. In live performances, Mar draws listeners in with a mix of creative and unexpected genre-bending covers/mashups and raw, vulnerable originals, performed with an ever-evolving mix of acoustic and electronic/looped elements, all while dazzling them with a dynamic vocal performance that showcases her impressive range and blends her classical training with pop, rock, and jazz influences.

Loren Johnson
Hailing from West Michigan’s vibrant creative scene, Loren Johnson has made her mark as a photographer, musician and performer; and is most recognized for her distinctive vocals and bright finger-style guitar. Johnson’s debut full-length album How to Change was released April 2023.

Olivia Vargas
Olivia Vargas, a West Michigan singer-songwriter, is a soulful singer known for writing candidly about growth, mental health, love, and resilience. Combining her rich vocals with piano, likened to Sara Bareilles or Norah Jones, she forges a deeply vulnerable soundscape rooted in Soul/Pop but unbound by genre. Whether it be playing live solo or in one of her two bands, August (soul/pop/rock) or The Temperances (ethereal indie folk), you're bound to feel something.
