Concert: Fable and Flow

The McLennan Community Orchestra presents "Fable and Flow," featuring the music of Haydn and Medtner, with Dr. James Pitts on piano.
Franz Joseph Haydn, Symphony No. 104, "London"
Nikolai Medtner, Piano Concerto No. 3, "Ballade" with James Pitts
Russian composer Nikolai Medtner loosely based his third piano concerto on the Russian folk tale of Rusalka. The Romantic and evocative concerto features a virtuoso piano part, which will be played by Dr. James Pitts, Associate Professor of Music at MCC.
Haydn's last symphony, No. 104, was composed and premiered on a trip to London. The four movements of the symphony are all very tuneful and dance-like, and the last movement especially evokes a lively country dance.
