Concert Chamber Music at the Brussels Court of Charles of Lorraine (1741–1780)
KCB, Kleine Zavel 4, Tempel
Free admission
A substantial body of chamber music by Brussels court composers survives in historical printed editions published in Brussels and Paris. Although it is impossible to determine how much of this music was actually performed at court, this repertoire undoubtedly reflects the musical tastes of high society in Brussels during this period.
Repertoire: Suites, solo and trio sonatas, and quartets by Josse Boutmy, Henri-Jacques De Croes, Eugène Godecharle, Jean-Noël Massart, and Pieter Van Maldere
Performing forces: violin, cello, transverse flute, harpsichord
