Composting 101

Join us for a class where we learn how to transform scraps into soil! Learn how to make that brown gold and save pounds and pounds of food scraps from going into the landfills. Whether you garden or someone you know does, this will be a great class for learning how to make a free, nutritious addition to your soils. This class aims to help you understand the processes, benefits, and types of composting that we all can do at home!

Key highlights:

Understanding Composting- Why and how composting works, what causes the break down of materials, and how to do it properly to ensure the most beneficial end product

Types of Composting- The different methods of composting that can be done in the home or backyard, even commercial composting

Practical Tips- What you need to know now to get started on reducing waste at home and how to set up a functional compost pile or bin, what materials are compostable, and troubleshooting common problems

Benefits of Composting- Emphasis will be placed on the ecological, environmental, and gardening benefits of composting

Class will be held in person at Enchanted Alchemy (237 S Main Street, Washington PA) on February 8th from 11am-12pm. Take home information will be provided at the end of class. Loose leaf tea experiences will be available before and after the lecture for you to enjoy as you learn!
