Compost Toilet Build Days at Mile End Community Garden

We are excited to annouce the October dates for our compost toilet build days at MECG. Come help us bring this dream design to life, as we share skills, learn together, and connect with the land and each other.

We'll be working on carpentry, cob, wattle and daub, cladding and creating the internal furnishings

PRACTICAL INFO

• You can drop in for a few hours or stay for the whole session
• There is currently no toilet on site, there is a coffee shop across the street (toilet is down a flight of stairs)
• Snacks and teas provided, bring your own lunch
• We have running water on site so please bring your bottles to be filled
• We will be outdoors and probably getting a bit dirty, so wear and bring anything you need to feel comfortable.
• Please wear old sturdy shoes that you don't mind getting covered in clay, if you would like to work on cob mixing and building.

Mile End Community Garden uses permaculture practices to create a unique space for gardening, relaxing and food growing. The front of the garden features raised beds planted with vegetables, herbs and flowers while the back garden is a deliberately left wild to foster increased biodiversity in the area.

Compost Mentis is an alternative sanitation co-op working for ecological and social justice in everyday urban spaces. Founded in Tower Hamlets, they have built and retrofitted several successful community compost toilets in Tower Hamlets and Newham
