Compost Screener Build Workshop

Join us at GFN for a hands-on workshop to build a vital piece of garden infrastructure: a hand-powered trommel screener.

This exciting tool will allow us to quickly sift large debris out of our compost, helping us finalize our very first batch of hot-processed compost, which will be free for all gardeners to use on their plots. You are welcome to attend whether you are a seasoned DIYer or have never held a drill.

Working together in teams, we will construct a sturdy wooden frame designed to fit over wheelbarrows and mount a rolling mesh cylinder on casters. Because this tool takes a group to build and at least two people to operate, it is a great project to connect with fellow gardeners and build community while we work.
