Compost Giveaway with Pleasant Village Community Garden

Get free compost! The LES Ecology Center and Pleasant Village Community Garden are hosting a compost giveaway—up to two (2) free bags per household! Bags are ~40 lbs and made from NYC’s own food scraps and yard waste.

📝 Registration is required!
When signing up, be sure to reserve the number of bags (limit: 2 per household)

📍 Enter through the East 119th Street entrance.

🚶‍♂️ LES Ecology Center Staff will be on-site to answer questions about how to apply compost and how to compost your food scraps right here in NYC.

⚠️ Duplicate registrations will be canceled.
🚫 No vehicles are allowed inside the garden. Please note that this is a one-way street!
🛒 Bringing a cart is highly encouraged to help carry your bags!

ABOUT PLEASANT VILLAGE COMMUNITY GARDEN: Pleasant Village Community Garden, Inc. (PVCG) is a beautiful oasis in East Harlem. Founded by the late Rose M. TYPE OF COMPOST AVAILABLE:

Big Apple Compost will be distributed at this event. Big Apple Compost is 1/2 inch screened compost, made from leaf and yard waste at the DSNY Staten Island Compost Facility. Each bag weighs up to 40 pounds and is roughly one cubic feet of compost. Big Apple Compost is approved by the US Composting Council Seal of Testing Assurance.
