About this Event
Join Brook Music Collective for a special afternoon filled with the music of Romantic composer Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849). In the upper half, you will hear his four Ballades which are among the most celebrated works in the piano repertoire. Composed between 1831 and 1842, each Ballade is distinct in its narrative and emotional depth, showcasing Chopin's mastery of form, melody, and expression. These works are known for their lyrical beauty, dramatic contrasts, and technical brilliance. Inspired by the literary form of the ballad, Chopin transforms this narrative structure into music, weaving together stories of passion, melancholy, and heroism, making his Ballades a cornerstone of Romantic piano literature.
In the second half, you will hear his Piano Sonata No. 3. The third sonata is a testament to Chopin’s ability to combine classical structure with his own expressive, Romantic voice, making it a cornerstone of the solo piano repertoire. This monumental sonata blends technical brilliance with profound emotional depth. Across its four movements, Chopin explores a wide range of moods, from the lyrical and poetic second movement to the dramatic and fiery finale.
