Compassionate Communication: Understanding Yourself and Others
About this Event
Most of us were never taught how to understand what is happening beneath our reactions, express ourselves honestly without blame, or listen to someone else without losing ourselves in the process.
In this interactive class, we’ll explore the principles of Compassionate Communication, also known as Nonviolent Communication or NVC. You’ll learn practical tools for recognizing feelings and needs, separating observations from interpretations, making clearer requests, and responding to difficult conversations with greater awareness and choice.
Using Connection Cards, guided exercises, personal reflection, and partner activities, we’ll practice turning confusion, frustration, and disconnection into deeper understanding both within ourselves and with others.
This class can support you in communicating more clearly, navigating conflict, strengthening relationships, reducing anxiety, and experiencing more peace, authenticity, and connection in everyday life.
No previous experience is needed. Come with curiosity and a willingness to explore.
About Your Guide
Tisse Mallon is the Chief Inspiration Officer of The Urban Ashram and has spent more than 20 years helping people better understand themselves, communicate with greater compassion, and create more authentic connection. Their facilitation blends emotional intelligence, mindfulness, practical tools, warmth, curiosity, and a healthy dose of play.
