Project Empathy
Host: Drew Dutton

Info: Project Empathy is a research-based workshop designed to dismantle stigma surrounding substance use disorders through neuroscience, positive psychology, and evidence-informed strategies. It bridges cutting-edge research with practical application, offering a clear understanding of why many current treatment models fall short and how we can do better.
The session introduces solution-focused therapy, strength-based practices, and empathy as actionable tools—not abstract ideals. Participants learn how to integrate these concepts into real-world interactions, whether in clinical care, education, legal systems, or day-to-day conversations. A significant focus is placed on adolescent development and the neuroscience of addiction, helping explain both behavioral patterns and recovery potential. The training equips attendees with a clearer understanding of brain-based vulnerability, treatment access barriers, and the role of community and connection in long term recovery.
