BACKGROUND
CompArte was started in the summer of 2016 when the EZLN made a call and convened culture makers from every discipline imaginable to come together, share their work, and imagine a way forward out of the deepening capitalist morass of wars & racism.
Joining the call, the Chiapas Support Committee organized the first CompArte in 2016, bringing together painters, poets, musicians and community to celebrate the justice and liberations movements with the music and poetry of class & land struggles
CSC has held CompArte every year since then; CSC held three online CompArte gatherings during the pandemic in 2020 and brought together an international community in solidarity with the Zapatistas and to connect and interconnect our movements and struggles for a better world of many worlds.
Join us on Saturday, October 19, 2024, 2-5 pm, at the Eastside Cultural Center in Oakland for CompArte : The Emiliano Zapata Community Festival bringing the best of our voices, colors and words in solidarity with the Zapatistas and intermingling and combining our dreams of justice & deep community.
