Community Water Academy
About this Event
This summer, the Chino Basin Water Conservation District is hosting a FREE three-session educational experience for members of our community to learn about our local water supply. If you live in Chino, Chino Hills, Montclair, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, or Upland, about half of your water comes from our local aquifer, the Chino Basin.
At CBWCD, we have been protecting and replenishing our local groundwater supply since 1949. Our team is devoted to stewardship of our aquifer and educating our community about how to use that water wisely.
Join us for a three-session educational experience:
Session 1: Why Am I Always Hearing About a Drought? Learn about California’s statewide water system, our local watershed, how we store water in the ground, and our local aquifer.
Session 2: Secret Water Wasters. Learn about the secret water wasters at your home, how to most effectively save water, how conservation rules from Sacramento might affect you, and what happens to water once it leaves your house and heads back into our local watershed.
Day 3: Behind the Scenes. Take a behind the scenes tour of our groundwater recharge basins and see for yourself how our local aquifer gets recharged.
Dinner will be provided during our evening sessions, and lunch will be provided after the basin tour.
We hope to see you this summer!
