Community Sign Language Class

The Community Sign Language Class is presented by The Silent Word Ministries and is available to anyone living in and around Hampton Roads, VA. This class will start with the ABC’s and teach around 400 signs needed to communicate with Deaf people. Everyone is welcome.

This class will be conducted at Bethel Baptist Church, Hampton as a public service to promote deaf awareness in our community. Business men and women, nurses, restaurant workers, and students have benefited from these classes in previous years. Whether you are a beginner or want to improve your signing skill, this class will help you communicate with Deaf people.

Everyone Welcome! (All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.) Class size is limited. Register early.

Beginner Conversational Sign Language

• Learn Sign Language – ABC’s – 400 Word Basic Vocabulary
• Learn About Deaf People (Culture)
• Talk To Deaf People
• Instructors from Silent Word Ministries

The Community Sign Language Class instruction is free.

However, there is a $7 charge for the Loxy the Fox book (class manual). The cost helps us print more deaf ministry materials.

If you have attended this class before and still have your old book, you are welcome to bring it. Please be advised that page numbers may have changed due to revisions.

Lunch will be provided free of charge by Bethel Baptist Church.
