Community Science: Pollinator Diversity Walk with Aaron Sexton

Join us on September 19 for a guided pollinator walk with Aaron Sexton of Cornell University as the gardens begin their transition into fall.
We’ll look closely at the bees, wasps, butterflies, flies, and other pollinators still active among the flowers, visit The Battery’s bee habitat, and learn how to observe and identify the remarkable diversity of insects that contribute to pollination.
Aaron will share what these different pollinators can tell us about the health and biodiversity of an urban ecosystem — and will bring along a fun pop quiz to test what we know about pollinator diversity.
This walk is part of The Battery’s ongoing Community Science Program, inviting New Yorkers to observe the park more closely and help us better understand the biodiversity around us.
Whether you're a seasoned naturalist or simply curious about the tiny creatures around you, no previous experience is necessary.

Free and open to the public. Registration is recommended.
