Community Movie Nights: 3rd March 'The Farewell' screening

We are excited to start YCW Community Movie Nights, a space for young people to connect through culturally diverse films. Every fortnight on a Tuesday we’ll come together to watch a movie from somewhere else in the world, shared by a young person from our community for whom it holds personal or cultural meaning.

Each screening is followed by a relaxed group discussion so come along if you love movies, enjoy hearing different perspectives, or just want to hang out and connect with new people. Free entry and everyone’s welcome!!

📍Location: 119 Macquarie St, Parramatta NSW 2150 (Paramatta Mission building) Note: Pls meet us around the side gate by walking through the carpark

Cost: Free entry, but everyone is encouraged to bring a snack to share!

Parramatta YCW is a youth-led community organisation in Western Sydney that seeks to empower young people to take action for social justice and create meaningful change in their lives and communities.

THIS WEEK'S MOVIE: The Farewell (dir. Lulu Wang)

Chinese-American Bili returns to her home country because her Nai-Nai (grandmother) has been given weeks to live, though everyone has decided not to tell Nai-Nai herself. As Billi navigates a minefield of family expectations, she finds there’s a lot to celebrate: a chance to rediscover the country she left as a child, her Nai Nai's wondrous spirit, and the ties that keep on binding us even when so much is left unspoken.

How to get here:

🚊Public transport: We are a short 2 min walk from Parramatta Light rail stop and Parramatta Train Station (cutting across Parramatta Square). Just pop in 'Parramatta Mission' on maps and walk through the carpark on the building's right till you reach the side gate. When you arrive, give us a call on 0411463975 and we will come get you!

🚙 If you are driving, be mindful that you'll be driving along a tram line to reach us. Drive to where the red X is marked on Maps, then turn right into our car park. Just give us a call on 0411463975 when you're 5 minutes away so we can meet you at the gate and let you in as it requires a code. Parking is at no cost.
