Hi guys, our son Thomas has been wanting to work on a Community Project, teaching people how to metal forge. He's been into Blacksmithing and Forging the last 4 years and has gotten pretty good at it! You will be able to make your own metal ingot out of aluminum or copper. Since copper is expensive, we'd love to take any copper donations you may have to help keep cost down. This will be a free eventThomas and his friends will be hosting the event and my husband and I will supervise. This is partially for his Community Project requirements for his IB school that he's attending. His small group is learning how to create their own Makers Space for the day and want to demonstrate why teaching skills is an important thing for the community. The other part is that he's really excited to share his hobby with others.
We will have all the proper protective gear, materials, and tools for people that want to learn. We recommend for you to show up on time so that you can watch the initial demonstrations. You must wear long sleeves, pants, and closed toed shoes. If you have long hair, we recommend for you to have it pulled back. The boys will also have a sign in sheet with Waivers for people to sign. Metal Forging can have associated danger risks of injury due to working with fire and molten metal.
We hope to have a great turn out and it will be fun for everyone to participate! Please RSVP so that we know how many people will be attending.
