On Saturday, November 8th, a Community Food Drive will be hosted at the Easton Farmers Market from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Scott Park on the Riverfront in downtown Easton. The collection tent will be located near the Larry Holmes statue, welcoming donations to help combat food insecurity in the region. The drive is organized by Crystal Rose, Easton City Council Member, in partnership with the Easton Farmers Market and local community members. Donations of fresh produce, non-perishable goods, and grocery store gift cards are being sought. Visitors can also support SNAP recipients by purchasing market tokens, which will be distributed to those in need so they can shop directly from market vendors. “With just days to go before millions of low-income Americans may face a pause in federal food assistance, I wanted to take action locally to help fill the gap,” said Council Member Crystal Rose. “SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, serves over 40 million people nationwide. A shutdown threatens to suspend these benefits, raising urgent concerns about food access for vulnerable families. Our local food pantries and food banks are already feeling ” Rose added, “I’m grateful to the Easton Farmers Market for providing a collection space, to the volunteers who jumped in to spread the word, and to fellow Council Member Frank Pintabone for his support.” All donations will be equally distributed between Project Easton's Food Pantry and The Neighborhood Center's Food Pantry, ensuring families across Easton have access to nutritious food in the weeks ahead. “This drive is about neighbors helping neighbors,” Rose emphasized. “We’re proud to bring the community together in such a meaningful way.” Market-goers are encouraged to bring donations and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the Easton Farmers Market while making a tangible difference in the lives of others.
