About this Event
Stay after the Unveiling Ceremony and come together, find the rhythm, and become part of the circle.
Led by Yao Ababio of Asase Yaa & Ababio Entertainment and Kamiruri “Kam” Kelly of The DAY Program, this community drum circle invites people of all ages and experience levels to connect through the shared language of rhythm.
As part of Rhythms Across Generations: Wellness Through Cultural Traditions, this gathering carries a special connection. Yao is one of Kam’s teachers, and together they bring their rhythms to the circle—honoring the way cultural traditions are received, practiced, carried forward, and shared with others.
Through call-and-response, collective rhythm, listening, and improvisation, participants become part of the experience. There is no audience and no pressure to perform—just an opportunity to create, connect, and experience what happens when a community finds its rhythm together.
No previous drumming experience is necessary. Drums will be provided. (as available)
The activity is free and open to the public.
