On July 16, we will be joined by Rabbi Pete Stein. He has spent the past 14 years teaching Jewish high school students in Chicago and Metro Detroit. In his current role at the Rochelle Zell Jewish High School, he helps nourish students' spiritual, intellectual and emotional growth through classes in Bible, Talmud, Jewish Art, and Architecture and Urban Planning. In his spare time, Pete is an artist and an avid cyclist. Pete holds Rabbinic Ordination and a Masters Degree in Talmud from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York and a B.A. in Urban Studies from Yale.
Jews are the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah described in the book of Genesis in the Hebrew Bible. For 3,000 years, we have spread the belief in one God throughout the Middle East and Western world. Jews are first and foremost a people, linked by a shared history, spiritual practices and a textual tradition. Today, there are roughly 16 million Jews in the world, representing 0.2% of the world's population, with roughly 7 million Jews in the United States and 7.3 million in Israel.
Join us for this conversation about prayer in the Judaism. The evening will be opportunity to learn from others, and share about your own experiences of prayer. All ages are welcome. Bring a chair or blanket. If the weather is bad we will move indoors.
