This is a great opportunity to learn all about our unique dune ecosystems, discover why they are so important and help restore the dunelands, allowing our native fauna and flora to thrive. These sites are identified as Key Native Ecosystems (KNE).The mahi / work will involve: dune restoration, helping tāonga grass species such as Pīngao thrive by protecting them from invasive weeds, and clearing rubbish that can hard wildlife or end up in our waterways.
