"I’m Charli, and I’ve had enough of the 'Administrative No'."I’m the founder of NCSUN CIC, a Mum, Stepmum, Wife, a 2nd-year Law student, and most importantly, a 30+ year resident of this city. For the last two years, I’ve been on a deep dive into why our systems in Norwich and it's surrounding areas are failing us. I’ve looked at over 5,000 insights into why people can’t get the help they need and spoken to hundreds of residents, volunteers, community groups, and leaders at every level.
This is the Second Community event in this programme, with the first a success. These will now continue every second month on the 11th (where possible in line with Norwich ABC's booked sessions).
I created this programme because the problem isn't that we don't Have the support: we have incredible support services, organisations, grassroots groups and many more, wanting to save items from landfill, and community leaders supporting our homeless neighbours, but there's nothing that connects us all, resulting in disjointed systems and exhaustion for those in need, and those trying to support them - I term this "culminative trauma tax" (CTT).
This isn't just another meeting where nothing happens as a result. It’s a space for us to co-steer a project that actually works for us. We are building a city-wide database to match surplus directly to need, and fill those gaps with a connecting layer - a Lived Experience Infrastructure.
Why your voice matters:
In the alternate months, I take everything we discuss at these events (anonymised) to a meeting with CEOs (like British Red Cross and The Feed), Council Leaders, and MPs. I’m not going there to represent myself; I’m going there to present the very start of our plan. I want to take the 'Conversational Data' of our Co-Creation and turn it into real, systemic change.
What I need from you:
I want to map this city’s heart. Please come along, fill in the Google form or the paper version of our Lived Experience Audits and Feedback Response forms.
Share with us:
* Your Story: Who are you and what do you care about?
* The Gaps: What isn't working in your neighbourhood or your organisation?
* The Offer: What skills, strengths, passions or resources can you share?
We map all of this information (if you consent for us to do so!) and match surplus and offer with need city-wide by utilising our amazing partners like The Really Rubbish Company.
Let’s stop waiting for permission and start co-creating the connections ourselves.
