Weightlifting Ireland are delighted to partner with Sligo Sport and Recreation partnership to launch the Women in Sport Community Coach Academy this June.
The Academy aims to develop and support the qualification of new Weightlifting Ireland licensed coaches who will play a vital role in the growth and development of community and WIS programmes. Graduates will be provided with training, mentorship and skills to equip them with the confidence and knowledge needed to foster participation, inclusivity and long term engagement in weightlifting in their community.
Academy Includes:
◾Fundamental Coach (Level 1) Coaching course [26th-28th June]
◾Safeguarding 1 training [scheduled for 6.30pm Thursday 9th July]
◾Coach Kit (at programme delivery stage)
Requirements:
Participants must be aged 18 or over and have experience of the Olympic weightlifting movements.
Cost:
This programme is supported by Sport Ireland Women in Sport funding to address the shortfall in Community Coaches available to develop and deliver weightlifting programmes in their schools and communities.
€350 / €175*
A 10% bursary will be made when an Academy graduate is fully licensed (membership/Garda Vetted/Safeguarding L1 training). A further 30% bursary will be made after the delivery of a Weightlifting Ireland Community programme. Weightlifting Ireland members will receive a €50 discount at checkout for the full course cost.
* [This is the student rate - bursaries as above will be applied to this price. ]
Local Sports Partnerships:
We would love to collaborate on community projects and if you would like to nominate and support an individual for the Academy, we can offer the discounted rate (€175) with the commitment for future projects. Just get in touch if you have any questions or queries.
Accommodation Grant: We can offer an accommodation grant (€50 per night, for two nights) to support your stay in Sligo during the course (upon submission of receipts).
