Join Edina’s fourth popular, free and fashionably fun clothing swap! The reuse-focused event will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Braemar Arena’s Backyard Rink, 7501 Ikola Way.
The clothing swap is open to everyone, including nonresidents and families. Participants are encouraged to bring clothing to swap with other people, but no clothing or monetary donation is required to join in and everything is free to take home. New this year, non-perishable food items will be collected for Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP). A food donation is not required, but much appreciated.
The drop-off period for clothing donations will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 and Wednesday, April 23, at Braemar Arena’s Backyard Rink. Directional signs to the Backyard Rink will be posted. The drop-off allows people to donate clothing even if they cannot attend the main swapping event.
Clothing for all ages and types are encouraged for the swap. A special collection this year will include Halloween costumes (human and pets), used running shoes and bras. Several community organizations will be onsite connecting people to resources and activities that further the City’s Climate Action Plan goals.
To make the event a success, many volunteers and partners are needed. Duties include setting up the event, accepting donations, weighing bags, counting attendance and cleaning up after. Community partners involved in reuse and waste reduction are encouraged to reserve a table at the event to share resources and information or create an interactive booth to educate the public.
