DHR Health is excited to bring together experts in sports medicine to help kick off your youth sports program. This free program will be focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities’ young athletes with key topics on Concussions in youth sports, Heat Illness, Common Dislocations and Understanding the differences between Emergency Departments and Urgent Care.
Topics Covered:
• Concussions in Youth Sports: Learn about what concussions are, how they occur, and their short-term and long-term effects. Understand the signs and symptoms to look out for and the steps to take if a concussion is suspected.
• Heat Illness: Understand the risks of heat illness, how to prevent it, and how to recognize and treat symptoms such as dehydration, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
• Common Sports injuries: Learn about common sports injuries, discuss their causes, symptoms, and immediate care steps. Discuss prevention tips.
• ED vs Urgent Care: Understand the differences between Emergency Departments and Urgent Care facilities, and when to use each for sports-related injuries.
