Community Book Cleaning for SMART Reading Portland
About this Event
Join us on Tuesday, October 20th to help get children's books ready for their next reader. Children's Book Bank at SMART Reading collects gently used books and shares them with kids across Portland, and before any book goes home with a child, volunteers clean and refresh it. That's the work we'll be doing together.
We invite you to come dressed as your favorit book character!
At simple stations around our office, you'll look through each book, erase old marks, cover inscriptions, and help sort out the ones that can't be saved. No experience is needed. We'll teach you everything, and all supplies are provided. In ninety minutes, you can help make sure that every book a child receives is one they can be excited about.
For us, this event is about more than cleaning books. It's about showing up consistently for our community and creating simple ways for people to care for one another in real life. Children's Book Bank at SMART Reading is one of our nonprofit partners, and we're proud to support their work of getting books into the hands of Portland kids.
