Why Give Blood?
Community Blood Center must collect almost 600 units of blood daily to meet the needs of area hospital patients. As there is no substitute for blood, we rely on volunteer donors like you to supply the life-saving blood and blood components to hospitals in Kansas and Missouri.
A blood emergency has been declared for Kansas City and surrounding areas (blood supply has dropped to a 2-day inventory, a 7-day inventory is needed to meet our needs.)
9 out of 10 individuals will need blood or a blood product at some time in our lives.
1 out of 10 hospital patients requires a transfusion.
1 donation can save up to 3 lives and only takes less than an hour.
