Community Barter Circle

A Barter Circle is a great way to build connections with others in our community over shared interests, skills to be exchanged, and compatible trades. We find that the formal circle is just the start to the barter, with even more meaningful trades and connections happening between folks after the circle has closed.

When? Saturday May 31st 4pm. Barter Circle begins at 4:15, campfire to follow

What to bring: We encourage you to bring yourself, a friend, an open mind, humility, and 1-3 items, crafts, services, art, etc to barter.

Barter items might include: clothing, plants, artwork, something homemade, crafts, tools, services you can provide (maybe you can fix a bike, sharpen tools, clean a house, walk a dog, deliver a meal, W**d a garden, or more!) If you are planning to offer a service to barter, it can be helpful to have a physical note to bring to the swap that includes your service, contact information, and any additional details you want to share.

This event will take place outdoors rain or shine. We encourage you to dress for the weather.

What to expect:

• To start the barter circle, we will first go around and each participant will have a chance to introduce themselves and what they have brought to barter.
• Once we have heard from each participant, we will go around the circle again - this time as we go around the circle, each participant will have a chance to offer one or more of their items/services in exchange for another participant's item/service. The participant on the receiving end of the offer will be able to accept the barter or decline. Once the exchange is completed, we move on to the next participant in the circle who has a chance to make an offer to anyone else in the circle.
• When it comes to your turn in the circle to offer a barter, you are always welcome to pass. If you pass you will not have another chance to make an offer during the Barter Circle, but someone may still offer an exchange with you on their turn.

The barter circle is not only a way to help us build connections with one another, but also gives us a chance to practice saying no to friends and strangers (that can be hard!) and determining where and how we place value.

Light refreshments will be available, and we welcome you to stay after the Barter Circle for an evening fire.

This is a no cost event at Dancing Bear Farm in Claremont NH. As parking is limited, we are requiring advanced registration/car. We encourage you to carpool!
