Community Bank Albany Radio Active Returns to Light Up the Albany Entertainment Centre
Presented by WAAPA and supported by Community Bank Albany Friday 4 September | Albany Entertainment Centre
Albany audiences are set to experience an unforgettable celebration of emerging talent, creativity and community when Community Bank Albany Radio Active returns to the Albany Entertainment Centre on Friday 4 September.
Presented by the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and proudly supported by Community Bank Albany, Radio Active brings together the outstanding talents of WAAPA Contemporary Music students with young performers from Albany Senior High School and Great Southern Grammar for a unique concert experience that showcases the depth and diversity of music being created in the Great Southern and beyond.
Set against the backdrop of Albany’s vibrant cultural landscape, Radio Active promises an exhilarating mix of musical styles and performances. From heartfelt ballads and soulful grooves to high-energy rock anthems and contemporary favourites, the concert highlights the passion, creativity and musicianship of a new generation of artists.
A hallmark of the Radio Active program is the collaboration between WAAPA’s Contemporary Music students and local high school performers. Throughout the project, WAAPA students work alongside and mentor emerging musicians, creating opportunities for shared learning, artistic growth and lasting connections. Together, these young artists build a dynamic performance that celebrates music’s power to unite people across backgrounds, generations and communities.
“Radio Active is much more than a concert,” said a WAAPA spokesperson. “It’s a celebration of collaboration, creativity and community spirit. By bringing together aspiring musicians from across the region, the program creates meaningful pathways for young people while showcasing the extraordinary talent that exists within the Great Southern.”
The event would not be possible without the generous support of Community Bank Albany, whose ongoing commitment to regional arts and youth development continues to create opportunities for local performers to learn, grow and shine on a professional stage. WAAPA also acknowledges the enthusiasm and participation of Albany Senior High School and Great Southern Grammar, whose students play a vital role in making Radio Active a truly community-driven event.
