About this Event
Sitting on the point at Quonnie Breachway as the tide comes in provides a unique opportunity for an up-close experience with the many Shore Birds, Waders, Gulls & Terns that visit the area. Of course, there are also opportunities to spot birds on the surrounding marsh and shoreline.
This event is planned around both the high tide and parking pressures at the Quonnie Breachway/Boat Ramp. Car-pooling would be helpful, there is limited parking. Plan to arrive by the start time, I will be there at least an hour earlier. Bring a scope if you have one & either a chair/stool or a towel to sit on – the birds will not come in if there are humans standing around.
There are two parking areas, one by the Boat Ramp (end of the road) and one almost at the top of the dirt road @.2miles from the Boat Ramp lot. There are portojohns in the Boat Ramp Parking lot. It is approximately a 600 ft. walk to the point on sand that is fairly hard packed. There is good birding along the road & breachway as well.
Their might be port-o-potties available, but I can't say for sure until after Memorial Day. Park on the left of the boat ramp or up at the start of the road down to the boat ramp. Rain will cancel the event.
