At the time of the Civil War, literacy was increasing and printed documents were more widely available as a result of the printing press. The War itself was the catalyst for new publications to emerge and communication channels to be expanded and exploited. Helen Cooke explores the background and consequences of this revolution and how news, and in some cases propaganda, reached Nantwich. £6 (Museum members £5).
