Communicating sustainability and Purpose in the age of Trump 2.0

2024 was a difficult year for corporate sustainability. Political uncertainty and growing anti-ESG sentiment threatened progress. Some companies went notably quiet on environmental and social topics; meanwhile, disclosure requirements and greenwashing risks over-burdened ESG, finance and comms teams.

2025 looks set to see the ESG backlash and associated culture wars reach new levels as Trump & Musk embark on an anti-woke crusade and deregulatory agenda, governments across Europe struggle with domestic concerns and populist movements, and COP falls into irrelevance.

Yet the facts on the ground have not changed. Or rather, they never stop changing - for the worst. We're accelerating past 1.5 degrees, biodiversity is collapsing at an alarming rate and social cohesion is fraying.

Investors taking a long-term view know this and continue to demand action. The EU's environmental regulation is about to bite - hard. And people still want the companies they buy from and work for to do the right thing.

How to thread the needle? How do companies act on and communicate about sustainability in a way that satisfies consumers, regulators and investors without attracting the unwanted attention from anti-woke media and lobbyists? And that continues to demonstrate impact?

In this session, we'll provide the answers! There is a substantial opportunity for companies to fill the leadership vacuum - and benefit commercially from doing so.

This will be a hybrid event (virtual and in-person), hosted by Blurred and Deverill. From 5:30-6:50pm, you'll hear from Blurred experts in sustainability and communications, followed by a panel discussion (speakers TBC) and a Q&A where we'll open the floor to you.
