For our July concert at Skybound, we’re tapping into the spirit of the Smithsonian’s “America 250” celebration. The Smithsonian is looking at the 250th anniversary not just as a history lesson, but as a big, nationwide festival of festivals—a project called “Of the People.”
The core idea is simple: we aren't defined by just the "great" historical figures, but by the participation of ordinary people like us. We want to spend our evening weaving our own “Common Threads”—sharing the stories of community, local connection, and the everyday American experience.
Whether it's a personal memory, a folktale, or a piece of local history, bring us a story about community, empathy, and what it means to belong. Let’s remember together, build together, and keep the stories going.
