Coming Home to the Body: Integrating Somatic Approaches into Your Practice

A 5-hour in-person experiential workshop for therapists integrating somatic approaches into clinical practice.
About this Event
About the Workshop
You already know how to hold space. You've spent years refining your clinical voice and sitting
with clients through some of the most tender moments of their lives, but sometimes words
only go so far. This workshop invites you to go deeper.
Coming Home to the Body is an experiential training day for clinicians ready to weave somatic
awareness into the work they're already doing, without abandoning their existing frameworks.
Whether you practice from a psychodynamic, CBT, IFS, or attachment-based orientation,
somatic tools don't replace your approach. They enrich it.
What We'll Explore Together:We'll begin with you: grounding yourself somatically as a clinician and understanding regulation
as a prerequisite to co-regulation. From there, we'll build a shared language in the autonomic nervous system, exploring how it shapes the therapeutic relationship and how to recognize the four protective responses — fight, flight, freeze, and fawn — as they show up in the clinical
moment.
The heart of the day focuses on application. You'll develop skills in reading the body in session
— tracking breath, posture, gesture, and activation — and explore concepts foundational to
somatic-informed practice, including resourcing and working with the window of tolerance.
We'll explore polyvagal-informed interventions for trauma healing, including movement,
interoception, titrated exposure, and visualization, as well as practical entry points for bringing
somatic awareness to skeptical or highly verbal clients. Throughout the day, peer practice dyads
and small group processing give you the opportunity to feel this work, not just understand it.Participants are encouraged to complete the following survey so that the trainer can gain information about the training needs: https://tally.so/r/jaVGo1*This training is not a Somatic Experiencing® training and does not confer SE certification.
