Saturday, November 8 from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. IN PERSONAs we approach the holiday season, we often find the pace of life speeding up right as our bodies and the changing of the seasons are telling us to slow down, rest and turn inwards. Join us for a morning of practice where we will take time to return to ourselves—mind, body and heart—with mindfulness. Together, we will take time to intentionally slow down so that we can better rest in the support of our practice and community. This day will include guided meditations, walking/movement meditation practice and dharma reflections, as well as time for connection.
COST: The Dharma Center operates on the gift economy and the cost of this offering is on a two-part sliding scale. The fee that you offer through the registration system ($36, $48, $60, or $72 or scholarship options of $18 or $10) supports our nonprofit, which pays the costs of the building, utilities, website, administration, etc. If you would like a scholarship of $0, please simply reach out to the registrar. No questions asked.
In keeping with our 2,600-year-old tradition, the teacher of the class is not compensated but rather shares the teachings freely. In turn, you are invited into the practice of dana, or generosity, a gift economy system that has been alive since the time of the Buddha. You are invited to make a donation to support the teacher in continuing their valuable work. Donations in any amount whatsoever are gratefully received, and the practice of generosity is always elective.
DATE: Saturday, November 8th from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm
LOCATION: Durango Dharma Center, 1800 East Third Avenue, Suite 109 in Durango
QUESTIONS: If you have questions, please reach out to the registrar, Kurt, at [email protected] or 970-426-8983.
ABOUT THE TEACHER: Juliana first encountered the Dharma as a teenager, along with many of the beauties and challenges of practice. This led her to academic study of religion and gender, and ultimately, to pursue deeper practice and training in the Dharma. Over the years, Juliana has participated in Buddhist Chaplaincy training with the Sati Center, spent many years teaching with Spirit Rock Meditation Center’s Family Program, and co-founded a weekly sitting group for those who identify as women. Juliana participated in the sixth iteration of Spirit Rock’s Community Dharma Leader Program in 2019 and completed this training with an 11-month Dharma Mentoring Program with Erin Treat and Pamela Weiss. Today, Juliana lives in Santa Fe, NM and works one-on-one with individuals as Dharma mentor, hypnotherapist and coach. You can check out her website and sign up for her newsletter by clicking here.
