Jack and Jennifer Hudson have spent over 25 years building their lives and business in the Hill Country, running qualitypatiofurniture.net and serving their community with dedication. At 5:00am on July 4th, their world was turned upside down when a sudden flood overtook their home in Ingram, TX near Kerrville. In just five minutes, the water rose so quickly that Jack and Jennifer barely escaped with their two dogs, crawling out of a window and clinging to the porch’s rock wall as the water reached their shoulders. They spent nearly an hour in the rising floodwater, holding onto each other and their pets, while tragedy struck their neighborhood and two neighbors lost their lives. By the time the water went down, both Jack and Jennifer were battered and bruised thanks to the surging current that had tossed them around like ragdolls.
Jack and Jennifer lost everything, their home, all of their belongings, and the entire stock and equipment for their outdoor furniture business. For decades, they have been the first to help anyone in need, always going above and beyond for friends, neighbors, and customers. Now, they are the ones who need support. Jack and Jennifer and their two dogs have been blessed with a great cabin to stay in by a local friend near their home. They need help and the means to begin rebuilding both their home and their business.
Jack and Jennifer used to live in San Marcos TX. Jack worked at the Gristmill in Gruene, TX for several years. He was otherwise known as “Jack Swack” or “Swackman”. He threw great parties known as “Slugfest”. Jennifer was a regular Showdowner. Both made life long friends in San Marcos and are loved by many.
Come hell or high water we’re going to support our friends, Jack and Jennifer Hudson. There’s going to be live bands, a silent auction, food competitions, food sales with baked goods, fun with friends, etc.
