Come and Sing - Best of Baroque
About this Event
Music will be provided for the day which includes works which show the transition from Renaissance polyphony to the more dramatic, text-driven style of the Baroque.
Works include Monteverdi "Cantate Domino", Purcell "Rejoice in the Lord Alway", Pergolesi "Magnificat", Bach "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring", Handel "Zadok the Priest".
The Come and Sing will be followed by a short concert accompanied by the superb Chamber Orchestra Baroque in the North with historic instruments including violins, violas, cello, double bass and harpsichord.

Best of Baroque - A Day of Singing & Learning

Info: A full day of singing, learning and interaction with a professional chamber orchestra. 9.30 Arrive & Collect music. The workshop will be from 10.00 to 15.00 (including break for lunch), followed by a rehearsal with the chamber orchestra and an interactive session with historic instruments. At 16.30 there will be a pre-concert talk with Dr Amanda Babington (Royal Northern College of Music). At 17.00-18.30 there will be a concert performance with the chamber orchestra "Baroque in the North".
