**Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture: Combined Running and Arts Event**“BD2025 The Art of Running” Saturday 06 September 2025 9.30am -2.30pm
The event is hosted by Baildon Runners in collaboration with BD25 team, The Hive Shipley, local running clubs, local parkruns and Bradford Athletics Network.
The first running related events in BD25 programme.
Running is an important part of local culture inspired by our amazing scenery; from fell running to parkruns where thousands turn out to enjoy exercise and benefit from the sense of well- being that running in nature provides.
The event will be held in 4 parks which hold parkruns – Roberts, Lister, Horton and Bowling.
BD2025 “The Art of Running”
Each parkun location would have a run-themed creative art hub led by BD25 artists and The Hive Shipley and hosted by the local running club and parkrun.
The community art piece will draw inspiration from nature and include different media to create one or more larger pieces that will be made available for exhibition.
The park runs in each park will take place at 9.00am as usual.
A fun runs between parkrun locations - a group of runners will set off from each of the parks at 10.00am to run one leg of the park-to-park route, a distance of between 2 and 6.5 miles.
Park- to- park runners, parkrun participants and visitors to the park, working with the artists will be invited to contribute to the art creations.
The planned routes are:
Roberts Park – Lister Park (3 miles)
Roberts Park - Horton Park (6.5miles)
Horton Park - Bowling Park (2 miles)
Bowling Park – Lister Park (5 miles)
Lister Park – Roberts Park (3 miles)
Some runners would run there and back, some return by train or bus. We are also exploring providing transport to take runners back to the park they started from.
