Walk historic downtown Columbia. Follow the trail through the USC campus and through a memorial park honoring SC servicemen. See the Governor’s Mansion, amble around the State House grounds, and travel the historic section of Columbia.March 21st, the Asheville Amblers will walk in Columbia at 1:00 p.m. (Register at 12:30 a.m.) Rated 2A (2=Some moderate hills and stair climbing; A=Almost entirely on pavement), you will have 5k and 10k options. This walk is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Sneakers will be fine, but as always, we recommend carrying drinking water and a protein snack. You probably won’t feel like you need a walking stick.
From I-26, take I-126 (downtown Columbia) to exit for Huger. Take Huger to Gervais. Left on Gervais to Lincoln. Right less than one block on Lincoln to the entrance to the Hampton Inn parking lot (822 Gervais St). Registration is in the lobby.
Traditionally, many Amblers eat at Five Guys prior to the walk. However, there are lots of great places to eat near the Start Point, and some Amblers will eat elsewhere. Fuel up; you’ll want to bring lots of energy to get the absolute most out of this great walk. We’ll be looking for you.
