Join us on š”š¼šš²šŗšÆš²šæ šš± to learn about the creation of the Museum of the Reconstruction Era at the Woodrow Wilson Family Home. Dr. Jennifer Whitmer Taylor will join us to discuss her new book, Rebirth: Creating the Museum of the Reconstruction Era and the Future of the House Museum (Yes, it's about our museum!), and explore how sharing difficult parts of the past when public memory is contested is a challenge faced by many public historians and museum studies practitioners, including us here at HC.Join the author following the talk for an optional behind-the-scenes exclusive tour of the Museum of the Reconstruction Era, where Dr. Taylor will highlight the most powerful engagement tools in the house based on the docent interviews she conducted and what she would change about her original tour a decade after the home's reopening and writing her book.
The book talk is FREE and books will be available for sale thanks to our friends at USC Press. The optional tour is $5. Pre-registration required.
